Government grants for women are an essential element of government funding channels, and while some women may feel patronized by this attitude, it is not a reflection of the outdated concept of “women are the fairer sex” and needing more help than men. The recognition by government of the important role of women in society in general, is not reflected in the number of women running businesses and/or starting businesses, and these types of funds are there to help women entrepreneurs redress the balance.
Not that there are wads of cash waiting to be dished out to anyone; if you're starting a business or beginning further education you will need a sound business plan, and any application for federal aid and/or funding will need to be presented in a formal business plan like format. The funding is there, all you need to do is to make the formal application to the relevant government department.
