Significance of umbilical cord blood

For many years, the significance of umbilical cord blood was unknown to many, thus the umbilical cord used to be cut and the placenta used to get discarded as the medical waste. However, now it’s not the case anymore, because the blood that’s left in the umbilical cord is very important and a rich resource of stem cells.
