The Damart Mill Chimney looms large over the centre of Bingley

One of the most prominent landmarks in Bingley town center is the chimney of the Damart mill; looming large over the centre and casting a long shadow, it is a relic of a bygone industrial era. And yet, the name Damart is a mere fifty or do years old and has been a modern leader and pacesetter in catalogue and mail order shopping, two contrasting icons of this old market town on the banks of the river Aire.
While many stores in the town have closed, and many of the better known high street names have disappeared to Bradford, the company continues to buck the trend, and is reporting continued growth, especially in the sales of winter warmer thermal underwear.
Winter is coming and the weather is getting colder but there’s no need putting up with a cold rear end, legs or anywhere else we’re too polite to mention. Just make sure the icicles don’t form where they have no place forming this coming winter – you have been warned!
