The Conflict Persists- Generic medicines or Branded Drugs?
The main reason behind making generic medicines is that it saves on the costs of pharmaceutical companies. Consumers and their insurers also enjoy the overwhelmingly low cost of generic products. The drug formula and basic ingredients used in these drugs should be same as their branded counterparts. Generic medicines are so low priced that even the third world and underdeveloped nations can afford to purchase them. The main issue with these drugs is that firstly, they are made in poor quality environment and secondly, if not administered in correct doses, they can lead to severe drug addiction. Now, FDA and WHO have set a yardstick for production of generic drugs to avoid health problems among consumers.
