Damart – One of Sauchiehall Street’s most famous names

Located on probably one of the most famous street names in Scotland, Damart takes pride of place on this old and historical thoroughfare in Scotland’s second city, although try telling a Glaswegian his or her city is Scotland's second city and they may well have something to say about that. Glasgow, recently European city of culture stands on the banks of the river Clyde, and some forty one percent of the country’s population within the greater Glasgow metro area; it is the most densely populated urban area of a country with a population of a mere five and a quarter million people.
The Damart store located on Sauchiehall street resides in one of the many Georgian style buildings of which Glasgow is famous; the street is one and a half miles long and is one of the longest city streets in the entire United Kingdom, and is the main shopping thoroughfare in the city, with many well known brands and also many smaller stores, each making headway against the tides of recession and wage squeezes.
The store is one of a few scattered around the UK; however the bulk of its trading and revenues is raised via its online sales operation and its long established mail order business, and although its business and the products the company sells are well known and popular with an older demographic, the company has recently started to err towards including a younger audience and targeted demographic. The company Damart has long held a reputation for quality clothing and home fabrics and textiles, and is also renowned for the amazing and diverse collection of fashionable thermal underwear, and while this may not appear a “sexy” thing to be noted for, sales of thermal underwear over the last couple of years or so has outpaced all other sales, both in clothing, underwear and home fabrics and textiles.
The company is a firm and long time supporter and contributor to breast cancer awareness campaigns and regularly has special promotions and ranges of clothing where all profits are passed on to the Breast cancer campaign. Indeed, in the most recent campaign at the time of writing, actresses Sally Dynevor and Brooke Vincent, who play mother and daughter Sally and Sophie Webster in Coronation Street, are currently engaged in promoting the latest line.
Damart has long been an established element of the Scottish high street shopping experience, and combined with mail order shopping has for over fifty years been innovative and a leading brand and a well-established household name in the Scotland. More information about the entire range of clothing, accessories and household linens, fabrics and textiles available and the location of the Glasgow store can be obtained at http://www.glasgowonline.co.uk/info/6882.
